Plastic Surgeon

Position Summary 

The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant and progressive Department of Surgery to provide Plastic surgical care at the Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA).  There is a high volume of general plastic surgeryincluding hand (carpel tunnel, ganglion etc.), breast, and soft tissue surgery.  Oncologic care including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers are also part of this practice (theMHA works closely with the Regional Cancer Centre). There is also opportunity to obtain appointment with Western University to teach and mentor medical students and residents from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.   

The ideal candidate for the position will have: 

  • College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position  
  • Certification in Plastics recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) 
  • Canadian permanent residency or Canadian citizenship  
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills 
  • Dedication to quality and excellence in clinical care and patient/family experience
  • Interest and experience in breast reconstruction and general plastics, with a particular focus on hand surgery.  

On-Call: 

  • On-call responsibilities include solo local coverage for SMGH and FCHS at 40% coverage through Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC).  

Out-Patient Clinic and Operating Room: 

  • Resources will be available at SMGH and FCHS for minor procedures in ambulatory clinics. Scheduled Operating Room time will be available at SMGH. 

Administrative and Quality: 

  • Participation in clinical program planning and development of surgical services. 
  • Participation in Accreditation and ongoing quality improvement, efficiency, and safety initiatives related to surgical care. 
  • Participation in hospital committees pertaining to medical practice and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws. 

Remuneration:   OHIP Fee for Service and HOCC for on-call  

Office:
Must maintain a private office practice for consultations and follow up of patients.

General Internal Medicine Specialist Physician with Intensivist Duties – 2 positions

The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is seeking to expand its’ current Consultative Internal Medicine hospital practice to better support the ICU/ER/Hospitalist programs. There is an opportunity to be an MRP if desired.  We are seeking two (2) additional General Internal Medicine Specialists who would be expected to run a four bed ICU to join the existing team to provide internal medicine and intensive care services.  Practice opportunities for candidates with specialty certification in specific areas can also be explored.

An Internal Medicine Specialist who can fill the above role and is interested in practicing at the Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA), will find:

The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA), is made up of two partner sites in beautiful southwestern Ontario – Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, a medium-sized community hospital located just west of London, and Four Counties Health Services, a rural hospital located midway between London and Chatham.
