General Internal Medicine Specialist Physician with Intensivist Duties – 2 positions
The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is comprised of two fully accredited partner sites – Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) and Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) in Newbury. The MHA’s Department of Internal Medicine is expanding to meet the needs of our growing community, and we are seeking full-time permanent and locum General Internists to join us at SMGH our SMGH site. Outreach clinics at FCHS are options. Patients from our FCHS site requiring urgent consult or specialist care will be transported to SMGH.
The Role
This role includes inpatient and outpatient care, participation in a 1-in-4 on-call schedule (with plans to change to 1-in-5 pending recruitment of new members) and rounding in our open model level II ICU. On-call work is high acuity, spanning general internal medicine, subspecialty cases and critical care. There are opportunities to perform and read diagnostics such as stress tests, holters, PFTs and EKGs. We particularly welcome physicians who are looking to establish an outpatient practice to complement inpatient work. Plentiful referral base is available spanning full breadth of GIM and subspecialty medicine. There is flexibility to accommodate a particular area of interest, if desired.
Successful candidates will be certified or otherwise accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and will hold licensure with CPSO before starting any work. US Board certified physicians eligible for CPSO pathway licensure are welcome to apply. We also welcome new graduates and are able toprovide mentorship and support, if desired. We seek adaptable internists comfortable managing a broad range of cases. Preferred candidates will possess excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills and will thrive in a team based working environment. Remuneration is Fee for Service and On-call funding.
About Us
SMGH is a 52-bed full-service community hospital located 20 minutes west of London, ON. It has a 24/7 emergency department, orthopedics, general surgery, ENT and Plastic Surgery, and a full scope anesthesia service. RT support is on site supporting vent care, bi-pap and high flow oxygen modalities. There is a busy Diagnostic Imaging department with MRI, CT and Ultrasound capabilities. Interventional Radiology services are also available and are currently in the process of growth and expansion. SMGH is a teaching site for Schulich’s school of Medicine & Dentistry Family Medicine Residency Program. London Health Sciences (LHSC) is only 20 minutes away providing tertiary level services including cardiac care, neurosciences and regional stroke care. We have an excellent working relationship and receive subspecialty support from LHSC.

A Royal College or Family Practice Anesthesiologist interested in practicing at the Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA), will find:

The ideal candidate for the position will have:
- Eligibility for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Certified or eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Anesthesiology (FRCPC) or the College of Family Physicians of Canada with a Certificate of Added Competence in Anesthesiology
- Canadian permanent residency or Canadian citizen
