#055-2021 Temporary Casual Part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant

Position Available April 2021, for approximately 6 months

Job Duties

  • Available for all shifts (7.5) including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
  • To provide assistance to the technologist with the performance of phlebotomy, clerical functions, POC instrument maintenance and routine set up of samples for technical procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months
  • Graduate from an approved Medical Laboratory Assistant Program  
  • OSMT certification and enrollment in CMLTO Voluntary Roster of Registered Medical Laboratory Technicians preferred
  • Demonstrated computer skills in a Microsoft Office
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Ability to assess concurrent demands, set priorities, organize work and maintain accuracy in a busy environment.
  • Excellent communication skills  (particularly oral/telephone) and critical thinking skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and professionally
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-directed learning
  • Demonstrated excellence in attendance
  • Understanding and demonstrated use of good body mechanics
