Senior Technologist/Quality and Point of Care Coordinator


SMGH Laboratory

Positon Available February 2022

Job Duties:

  • Available for all shifts (7.5h)  Monday to Friday and weekends (11.25h)
  • Maintain competency to perform all duties of a bench technologist in Core Lab and Transfusion Medicine
  • Coordinate Point of Care testing at SMGH and FCHS
  • Coordinate functions to optimize laboratory efficiency and quality reporting
  • Cerner Subject Matter Expert
  • Assists Laboratory Manager with maintaining all functions of the Laboratory Quality Management System

Job Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the  College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario and MLPAO or CSLMS
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Quality Management an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and mentoring abilities with supervisory experience an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and critical thinking/ problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated superior organizational skills to prioritize tasks in collaboration with others members of the health care team
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities. LEAN and quality management certification an asset.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-directed learning
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and deal effectively clients to provide exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrated intensive knowledge and skills in Cerner PathNet.
  • Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and professionally
  • Proven excellence in attendance and performance
  • Understanding and demonstrated use of good body mechanics
  • Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and proof of two Covid 19 vaccinations
  • Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 3 months
