Active Care Nursing Unit and Emergency Department

Job Duties

  • Available for all shifts, as required
  • Position available immediately
  • Patient & family reception and communication
  • Organizes and schedules consults, procedures, referrals and follow-up appointments
  • Arranges patient transfers through EMS/Voyago
  • Enters and updates clinic lists in the scheduling system
  • Order clinic supplies – Grand & Toy, McKesson and Data Form
  • Schedules staff according to Manager direction and MHA guidelines
  • Demonstrated understanding of ONA Collective Agreement for call-ins, staffing and scheduling
  • Completes weekly time sheets and payroll coding
  • Performs other clerical duties, as necessary and/or as requested

Essential Job Qualifications:

  • Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and two COVID Vaccinations
  • Must provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 3 months
  • Secondary School Diploma required
  • Medical Terminology Course required
  • Health Care Office Assistant Certificate preferred
  • Minimum one year current unit clerk experience
  • Proficient Computer skills in a “windows” based environment including Excel, Word, Access, Internet/Intranet and Outlook
  • Experience with Cerner patient registration and discharge program preferred
  • Excellent clerical skills – phone etiquette, public relations and accuracy to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-directed and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated good attendance
  • Understanding and use of good body mechanics
