COVID Outbreaks declared over at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital

(Strathroy, ON) The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is very pleased to announce that the COVID-19 outbreak on the 1 South inpatient unit at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital was declared over by the Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) on September 8, 2022 and the Outbreak on 2 South was declared over on September 12, 2022.  This is excellent news, and now enables both units to once again be open to inpatient admissions.

The teamwork and collaboration experienced across both MHA sites and between many departments was outstanding during the outbreaks. We are grateful to our staff, physicians and leaders for their support and dedication during this challenging time. We are appreciative of the MHA Infection Prevention and Control team for their expertise and close collaboration with the Middlesex-London Health Unit, which helped bring these outbreaks to a close.

While the outbreak resolution is welcome, we continue to be diligent and adhere to infection prevention and control strategies to keep our patients safe. This includes active screening, hand hygiene, distancing and consistent use of personal protective equipment, particularly masks and eye protection.

To the community, Middlesex Hospital Alliance expresses gratitude for their ongoing support throughout the pandemic, and encourages people to continue following all public health protocols to stay safe, and protect against COVID-19.
