MHA is committed to protecting its patients’ rights to privacy of their personal health information. We consider these rights to be very important. As part of our commitment, we routinely perform audits of our electronic patient care systems, and fully investigate all privacy concerns that come to our attention. It was through an audit that we became aware of inappropriate access to the electronic health record. We are currently investigating this incident and working with the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
