COVID Outbreak declared at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Inpatient Unit | Middlesex Hospital Alliance

(Strathroy, ON) For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Strathoy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH) is dealing with an outbreak. The hospital, in conjunction with the Middlesex-London Health Unit, has declared the outbreak on the second floor inpatient unit.
Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) President and CEO Todd Stepanuik stated that the hospital is working closely with the Middlesex-London Health Unit in the investigation.
The safety of everyone at our hospital sites is our top priority, and MHA’s Infection Prevention and Control experts are monitoring the situation closely. We have taken immediate steps to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and physicians.
These enhanced safety measures include:
- Closure of the unit to new admissions
- Enhanced cleaning and disinfection of the unit.
