If you are experiencing a mental health and/or addiction-related emergency that requires immediate treatment, call 9-1-1 or visit your nearest emergency department (the MHA has emergency departments at both of its partner sites).
What will happen during your emergency visit:
- An emergency triage nurse will talk with you to understand the circumstances that brought you to the hospital
- The nurse may call crisis staff to complete an assessment, provide supports, and offer other resources to you, and
- You will be seen by an emergency physician as soon as possible to further assess your wellbeing and decide on the appropriate course of treatment.
Important note: Neither SMGH nor FCHS have inpatient mental health services so depending on the severity of your situation, you may be transferred to another larger hospital nearby.
Reminder: Items not allowed in hospital include alcohol, knives, glass, firearms, illicit drugs, and fire hazards.
