Strathroy, ON – December 3, 2024 – The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is currently experiencing a Covid-19 Outbreak in Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital’s (SMGH) 1 South inpatient unit. The outbreak was triggered by two linked hospital acquired infections, which are not surprising considering the widespread community transmission of Covid-19 and other respiratory viruses at the moment.
MHA is working closely with the Middlesex London Health Unit to ensure all appropriate measures are in place. Enhanced precautions, contact tracing, surveillance and testing are in progress. The unit is still accepting admissions and visitors are permitted however masks are required by ALL MHA staff, physicians, and visitors at all times while on 1 South.
Please do not attend the hospital as a visitor if you are having respiratory virus or gastrointestinal symptoms. Please perform proper hand hygiene when entering and exiting, and while visiting the unit.
MHA encourages all members of the community to continue following public health guidelines – including staying at home when ill, frequent hand washing, wearing a mask, physical distancing, getting fully vaccinated including your booster and flu shot.
Thank you for your continued support to keep each other and our community safe.
