Statement – Celebrating Pride Month at the Middlesex Hospital Alliance

Throughout the month of June, the Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) proudly celebrates Pride Month and the rich diversity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual) community. As part of this celebration, we are once again flying the Pride flag above both Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital and Four Counties Health Services and re-painting our Pride Crosswalk to visibly to affirm our commitment to inclusivity, respect, dignity, and equality for all.

We are especially grateful to have members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community within our leadership team, staff and physician teams and our Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC). Their voices, perspectives, and many gifts enrich our organization in countless ways, helping us grow stronger, more compassionate, and more inclusive. We are so fortunate to benefit from their expertise, dedication, and presence across all levels of our hospital community.

At the MHA, we believe every patient and family member is a valued member of our community and is deserving of the same respect, dignity, and standard of care we would want for our own families. We remain deeply committed to breaking down systemic and discriminatory barriers so that every 2SLGBTQIA+ patient, visitor, and team member feels safe, welcome, and respected—every time they walk through our doors.

Our Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) working group continues to guide our efforts to build an equitable and inclusive culture. Through ongoing training and education, MHA leaders are equipped to model and support a workplace where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

We are also proud to be active within our local 2SLGBTQIA+ community and excited to take part in the upcoming Strathroy Pride in the Park celebration on July 6, 2024. Visit our MHA booth and celebrate with us!
